Updates from the bridge:
Got my portable cassette tape player this week and absolutely love it 🥲 Feels great in the hand and I could spend so much time just sitting and listening to music with this thing. My kids love it too, and there's something awesome about watching a 2 year old put on these dinky headphones and watching the tape run. Analog is magic ✨

Been contemplating the conundrum I mentioned in Free Speech, Blogs, and P2P Infra, and one thing that has got my gears turning is sync engines. I'm using one in Alcove called Evolu which has the added bonus of being end to end encrypted. With the right setup, you could technically have a BearBlog platform running on multiple sync relays, making it much harder to take down since other people could help run and keep the platform in sync. I also had the idea of building a WYSIWYG note app using Evolu as well. Too much to build, not enough time. Anyway, I really think sync engines could help re-distribute the web in a much more open and free model, and I'm excited about them.
Can't keep Linux out of my head. I've been a Mac person since highschool and I still do appreciate the system, but my tinkering on my desktop Linux machine has got me wondering if it's time to switch. Generally I can do most things on Linux that I could do on my MacBook, but the one thing holding me back is hardware. I already have a solid M4 MacBook Pro that would make no sense selling it right now. Framework and System76 have my eye but I'm not sure if they'll have the same performance and battery life of my MacBook. However the allure of complete customization and ownership you get with Linux may eventually get me.
Until next time 🫡
